Frequently asked
eu-tailwind is an independent editorial publication covering Europe's venture-backed startup scene. We track the fundraises and the investors fueling the continent's rise, and we report on the policy and capital shaping European tech. The premise is simple: Europe is building, and most of the coverage has not caught up to that yet.
eu-tailwind is independent and founder-led. We file everything under the publication's own byline rather than personal names, because the work is meant to stand on its reporting, not on a personality. If you need to reach the desk, the contact link in the footer goes straight to us.
Yes. The fundraise tracker, the investor rankings, the Sovereign Tech coverage, and the article archive are all free to read with no paywall and no account. The Brief, our twice-weekly raise digest, is a free email newsletter you can subscribe to in one step.
Every round in the tracker is sourced from public disclosures: company and investor announcements, regulatory filings, and reporting from trusted European tech outlets. We apply a two-source standard for newly added rounds, prefer primary confirmation over aggregators, and normalise all amounts to euros so figures stay comparable across countries and years. We do not invent companies, quotes, or numbers.
The tracker covers venture-backed European rounds from 2021 forward and is reviewed every day. A daily sweep checks for new rounds and adds them, which also updates the investor rankings automatically. When a round qualifies, we publish a short dispatch on it in the house voice.
We track rounds raised by companies headquartered in Europe, regardless of where their investors sit. A round qualifies when it is a venture or growth equity raise that has been publicly disclosed and that we can verify against at least one primary source or two independent reports. Rumored or unconfirmed rounds are held until they clear that bar.
Sovereign Tech is our running coverage of the companies and capital behind European strategic autonomy: sovereign AI and defense, sovereign models and cloud, AI compute, semiconductors, quantum and photonics, the energy transition, supply-chain resilience, space, and critical-infrastructure security. We tag these rounds separately because the question of who controls Europe's critical technology is now a funding story, not just a policy one, and the filter lets you read the capital flowing into it on its own.
The Brief is our raise digest, sent twice a week: Tuesday and Friday. Each edition rounds up the European fundraises tracked since the last one, who raised, how much, and who backed them, with a line on why it matters and a link to the full story on each. We only send when at least one new round landed in the window, so a quiet stretch means no email.
Use the subscribe box anywhere on the site to join The Brief. You will get a confirmation email to opt in, and every edition carries a one-click unsubscribe link. We only use your address to send the newsletter.
No. eu-tailwind is independent and does not sell coverage, placement, or favorable treatment. Being featured in the tracker or a story is a function of having raised a verifiable round, not of any commercial relationship with us.
You are welcome to cite our reporting and figures with attribution and a link back to eu-tailwind. For wholesale republication of an article or a bulk export of the dataset, reach out through the contact link in the footer first so we can confirm sourcing and keep the record accurate.
Tell us. The contact link in the footer reaches the desk directly. Send the round details or the correction with a public source, and we will verify and update the record. Getting it right matters more to us than getting it first.
